Retiree Network – Calendar of Events for August 2016

We hope everyone is having a good summer. We will kick off our preparations for events in the coming academic year with our August business meeting.  Here is our list of events for the month of August.  Please come join us for whatever fits your calendar!

Art & Conversation: Thursday, August 18th, 9:15 a.m. at Portland Art Museum. The monthly series continues. This month’s topic has yet to be announced on the PAM website, but as always: Coffee at 9:15 a.m.; lecture at 10:15 a.m.  This series is free for adults 62 and over.

Pinot & Prose Book Club: Wednesday, August 24th, 11:30 a.m. at Walter Mitty’s restaurant. Our summer reading selection is: The novels of Harper Lee – To Kill A Mockingbird and Go Set A Watchman. We’re reading both novels published 50 years apart to compare and discuss these two variations of what is ultimately the same story, coming of age in a small southern town in the 1930’s. Come join us for the discussion and stay for lunch and the monthly business meeting (optional).

Retiree Network Business Meeting: Wednesday, August 24th, 1:00 p.m. at Walter Mitty’s restaurant. Come join us as we begin planning for the coming academic year.
