Although there are many volunteer opportunities at the College which may be of interest to Retirees (and we plan to make more information about those available soon), we have become aware of two current needs for which volunteers are being solicited.
1. Scholarship application readers. Retirees looking to help read scholarship applications for the PCC Foundation can do so at a live session! Our scholarship coordinator will have paper applications available at reading sessions on March 24 and March 25 from 9:00-11:00 in the CC building on the Sylvania campus. Those interested in attending should RSVP to Nikki West at email@example.com
2. Spring Term Welcoming and Information Tables (Sylvania Campus). The following request was shared with us this week:
Spring has basically sprung and the new term encroaches, bringing new students and many questions.
To help ease the start of spring term 2015 for our new and returning students, please consider volunteering for the Spring Term Welcome Table.
We need volunteers to sit at a table/float around the CC building and the campus to answer questions, point students to the right locations, and to be cheerful and helpful. You can volunteer for 1 or 2 shifts. Shifts are 1 hour in length(or you can split a shift with a partner, if you’d like).
This term will have changes to the way the welcome tables function:
-There will only be one table in the CC upper mall, located near the Info Booth.
-Volunteers will be asked to float around the CC building and around the campus, twice an hour, using the welcome table as a home base of sorts.
I hope you will volunteer and keep an open mind. We are trying to make our model more flexible to serve students effectively, creatively, to meet student needs, possibly lost in-between buildings.
The Welcome Table hours of operation are:
Monday, March 30, 8:00am – 5pm
Tuesday, March 31, 8:00am – 5pm
If you are interested, please email Todd Nashiwa at firstname.lastname@example.org
