Mark your calendars for two special fun January events:
1. Cascade Retiree Reunion and new Student Center building dedication on Tues, Jan 20th.
Meet your retiree friends and current faculty and staff at the dedication of the sparkling new Student Center at the PCC Cascade Campus! The event starts earlier but the ceremony itself should start around 4 pm.
Immediately afterward, walk across Killingsworth for some serious collegial socializing at McMennamins Chapel Pub (about 5 pm or so). All are welcome!
2. Join the “Wild” Movie Matinee Outing this coming Weds, Jan 14 at 2pm.
Let’s gather to see “Wild” filmed in Oregon starring Reece Witherspoon. It will still be showing next week at the Lake Theater and Cafe on Lake Oswego’s main drag. It received a whopping 91% from Rotten Tomatoes! It is the true story of a grieving young woman’s slide into heroin and casual sex before deciding to reinvent herself while hiking alone the length of the Pacific Crest trail.
Critics Consensus: Powerfully moving and emotionally resonant, Wild finds director Jean-Marc Vallée and star Reese Witherspoon working at the peak of their respective powers.
“Wild” was recently the much enjoyed book pick of our Pinot and Prose book group and will make a fine outing. The author is a Portland resident. (On a note from Gary Lesniak: I had a conversation with one of the Portland bit actors, Greg James, who plays a nude scene as the bartender having sex with Reece on the bar. What a hoot!) So join us by meeting in the theater lobby 15 minutes early for the 2:15 showing.
