Retiree Network Events – June 2014

Friday, June 6th: Annual PCC Retirement Dinner. 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. No host happy hour and time to socialize with fellow retirees and the 2014 retirees. 6:00 p.m. Ristorante Tuscana (aka Sylvania Cafeteria) Dinner Buffet, followed by ceremonies honoring this year’s retirees.

Thursday, June 19th, 9:15 a.m. Portland Art Museum, Art & Conversation ‘New in the Asian Galleries’. Featured speaker, Maribeth Graybill, PhD. The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Asian Art.

Friday, June 20th: Pinot & Prose, 11:30 a.m. – Walter Mitty’s.
Selection of the month ‘The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid’ by Bill Bryson. (See the separate posting below for details.)

Wednesday, June 25th: Happy Hour, 4:00 p.m – 6:00 p.m. Newport Seafood Grill at Riverplace, (0425 SW Montgomery St) . Join us for a late afternoon drink at this great waterfront location. (Map and Menu available at:

Saturday, June 28th: Designer’s Garden Tour. Sponsored by the Association of Northwest Landscape Designers, with proceeds going to support scholarships for the Landscape Design programs of PCC and Clackamas CC, here’s a chance to see six otherwise private gardens. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available online at or through one of these garden centers: Cornell Farms, Dennis’ Seven Dees, Garden Fever or Xera Plants.

Coming in July: The Pinot & Prose book club and the Retiree Network steering committee will not meeting in July, but we are working on scheduling a July tour of Portland’s Chinese Gardens. Check back here for future announcements.
