Dembrow Named To Senate Vacancy


Fellow PCC Retiree Michael Dembrow has been selected by the Multnomah County Commissioners to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of State Senator Jackie Dingfelder. Senator Dingfelder resigned last October to accept a position on the staff of Portland Mayor Charlie Hales. The Commissioners picked Dembrow from a field of three nominees put forward by the Democratic precinct committee people (PCP’s) at a nominating convention held in early November, 2013.

Michael, who was first elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2008, said he was “deeply honored by the support of the PCP’s and the commissioners, as well as many friends and collegues….” Michael was sworn in by Governor Kitzhaber on November 20th and immediately began fulfilling his new duties by chairing a meeting of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee that same afternoon.
